The Museo de Arte Chicano en Los Angeles (XOLA) will promote the transformative and innovative spirit of Chicano art to raise awareness, build community, and educate and inspire future generations. XOLA will honor the history and power of Chicano art — from the street art and muralists like East Los Streetscapers on the Eastside to the transformative work of groundbreaking collectives such as Los Four and Asco to the brilliant contemporary art of Gabriela Ruíz and a new generation of emerging artists.

XOLA will be a grand zocalo in the heart of Boyle Heights for the public to celebrate Chicanx art and empower the community to proudly own its artistic and cultural history.

XOLA will…

• Showcase and promote Chicano art and artists.
• Innovate in all areas of museum functions curation, exhibition, and symposia.
• Serve as a community gathering space, transforming the very concept of a museum and traditional art.
• Partner with other arts organizations to promote Chicano art.
• Work to dismantle racist narratives that prevent Chicano artists from acknowledgement in art history and art commerce.
  
• Work to sustain emerging artists.

Museo de Arte Chicano en Los Ángeles (XOLA) tiene un objetivo claro: promover el increíble arte chicano para que más gente lo conozca, construir una comunidad unida, y educar e inspirar a las próximas generaciones. Queremos rendir homenaje a la historia y la potencia del arte Chicanx, desde las obras callejeras y los murales en el Este de Los Ángeles, hasta las creaciones del colectivo ASCO, Los 4, y la brillante obra contemporánea de Gabriela Ruiz y otros artistas emergentes.

XOLA será un lugar especial en Boyle Heights donde vamos a poder celebrar el arte Chicanx y sentirnos orgullosos de nuestra historia artística y cultural.

En XOLA...

• Mostraremos y promoveremos el arte y los artistas Chican@s.
• Seremos innovadores, desde cómo exhibimos obras hasta los eventos que organizamos.
• Queremos que sea un espacio donde nuestra comunidad se reúna, algo diferente a lo que esperas de un museo, con programas para jóvenes, familias, y la educación artística para todos.
• Trabajaremos con otras organizaciones de arte para impulsar el arte chicano.
• Lucharemos contra las ideas racistas que impiden que los artistas chicanos sean reconocidos en la historia del arte.
  
• Apoyaremos a los artistas emergentes.
